This Morning I Saw My Bedroom

1
by Harrison Cornish and Lilac Jarvis aged 10 and 11

This morning I saw my bedroom waking up
Teddy bears screaming of the alarm of dawn
Blinds stretching to the beat of the birds’ caws

This morning I saw my bedroom dancing
Toothbrushes doing the tango with tubes of toothpaste
Whilst mirrors pardoned the ballet to reflections

This morning I saw my bedroom angry
Clothes smoothed the bare floorboards
As T-shirts boasted to denim jeans
That they would be worn first
Whilst coat hangers listened worriedly

This morning I saw my bedroom partying
Gummy bears dancing with dolly mixture
Photos eating up memories for midnight snacks
As the stars shimmered in the moon light

This morning I saw my bedroom sleeping
Red velvet curtains shut their eyes
White shoes tucked under the sleepy bed
And lamps quietly boasted how bright they are

This Evening I Saw the Stadium

1
by Callum Stokes, Haydn Batin aged 11

This evening I saw the stadium awaken
Roof panels stretching
Opening out into a gaping yawn
Ready to prepare for an exciting game.

This evening I saw the stadium eating
Small plastic chairs swallowed up moaning fans
Whilst cheers munched on music
Long shards of grass hungrily grabbed the players’ boots.

This evening I saw the stadium crying
Colossal white goal posts screamed at the pressure
Of the firm and solid leather ball smacking them in the face
Futuristic score boards wept at the sight of a defeat.

This evening I saw the stadium in rage
Immeasurable metal cameras fiery because of the rain
Gushing down on their lenses had no assistance
Towering titanium fences livid because of the careless fans
Shouted, They are bundling me.

Yesterday I Saw My Bedroom

1
by Sienna Botterill, Ben Hayes, Zak Johnson and Olivia Laws aged 10-11

Yesterday I saw my bedroom awakening
Alarm clocks yawned a piecing scream
Bed-frames groaned at the disturbance
Whilst rugs stretched across the floorboards
And books flew in the air

Yesterday I saw my bedroom devouring
Pillows stuffed themselves
Doors demolished lights
And windows chomped the air

Yesterday I saw my bedroom ecstatic
Beds bounced off the walls
Teddies partied on the wardrobe
T.V vomited flashing lights
and my bedroom exploded with noise

Yesterday I saw my bedroom seething
Drawers slammed shut
Whilst lamps aggressively turned on and off
And curtains blinded the windows

Yesterday I saw my bedroom exhausted
Duvets snuggled the mattress
Whilst clothes cuddled each other in the wardrobe
Desks slept against the walls
And blankets lay upon the bed edge

Last Night I Saw The Stadium

1
by Rian, Max, Ayden and Jamie aged 11

This morning I saw the stadium rousing
Carbon fibre roofs stretched open to let shards
Of warm morning day in.

Last night I saw the stadium dancing
Local fans hasten in the stadium
Chairs clapped to fans in the air.

Last night I saw the stadium ravenous
Home goals were stuffed
Whilst away were famished
And black plastic bins belched
The white polystyrene cups.

Last night I saw the stadium breathing
Exhaling fans and inhaling stewards
Stewards swilling tsunamis of litter.

Last Night I Saw the Stadium

3
by Kenzie Coulson aged 10

Last night I saw the stadium dancing
Chairs clapping
Hotdogs waving
Balls back flipping prancing around

Last night I saw the stadium cheering
Flags waving encouraging goals
Shirts celebrating bright and colourful
Tunnel doors applauding players heartily

Last night I saw the stadium starving
Goals eating the balls hungrily
As the pitch nibbled the studs
Ravenous bins greedily munching

Last night I saw the stadium sleeping
Tired pitch snuggling up under the cover
Turnstiles finally stop rotating and doze off
High flood lights worn out shut their eyes and nap

Last Night I Saw The Mall Coming Alive

0
by Leon Cadman Billy Lazenby aged 11

Last night I saw the mall celebrate
Little toy queen guards marched up and down
The mall celebrating because the day was over

Last night I saw the mall breathing
Great gust of people leaving the midnight mall
Sighing with relief that everyone had gone

Last night I saw the mall dancing
Escalators were doing the conga
Up to the first floor

Last night I saw the mall waking up
Shutters opened and stretched their bones
Listening to the rhythm of the music

Let’s Get Washing

1
by Sydney aged 8

We need to get the washing done
So start to run
Our guests will be coming
They’re going to be sat here grunting
Bring your mates
Tell them to bring crates
We need to get the washing done
We’ve still got a ton
We’re at the party
I’m doing karati
But we need to get the washing done

Secret

The thing about a secret is that…

You share the secret with your friend secretly
In a secret place which means that you now have two
More secrets, one being the secret place
And the other being the secret
But maybe when you told this secret
In this secret place of yours
The person you told it to was your secret friend

This isn’t exactly a poem, but maybe it’s a secret poem
A poem of secrecy
Shhh
Don’t tell anyone about this secret poem that I have just secretly told you on this secret part of the website

Christmas

by Chloe Delgado aged 6

Christmas is
a time for joyful cheer
The world is white like a snowman
It tastes like a chocolate brownie.
It is a jolly, happy time!

Christmas is…
A lovely feeling.
The world is white like the
north pole and south pole.
It tastes like frozen ice.
It feels like a family adventure.
It smells like chestnuts.
