Snowflakes Everywhere

0
by Isha Toor aged 7

Snowflakes, snowflakes everywhere
snowflakes, snowflakes in my hair
Every time a snowflake falls
we are jolly happy dolls
Snowflakes, snowflakes everywhere
we are happy dolls who care

Rain is falling down today
Rain is falling down, hooray!
Come on everyone lets play
Because rain is falling down today

Memoria

1
by Zoe Rand

The click of the lock on the door
whispers, “Don’t worry,
you’re alone;
you can b r e a t h e.”

Collapsed weight on a
creaking, aged mattress;
the only sense of comfort
that seems to care

other than the purring mass of fluff
that decides to make a bed
from your stomach

before you know it
everything around seems to f a d e…

the space and stars
sing melodies and hymns,
comforting your tired, tired ears
tired mind
tired soul
tired everything

at least, in your head
there is no worry
over exhaustion
over responsibility
because all you’re doing
is floating
endlessly
it’s almost
too easy to slip away;
to forget everything
that is binding you
to the mortal coil

to be a spectator
rather than a participant
in the hurt, the pain,
the sadness, the loss…

the digging of claws
in your forearm
brings you back to the present;
the imperfect, bleeding reality

you remember
everything you must do;
that Japanese packet,
a project for government,
even this very poem
for creative writing

it’s not asking much,
shouldn’t be a problem to get
some simple assignments done;
you’ve been told
“You’re s m a r t,”
“you’re b r i g h t.”
But are your luminescent lights
like the Sun?
or a r t i f i c i a l ?

Best Friends are Bigger

4
by Jasreen K Toor aged 10

Silver, gold, best friends are bigger and bold
They show love, respect and so much more
Kindness and happiness from the core
Smiles, laughs, but sorrow too,
Don’t worry we will always be there for you
Love from deep inside our hearts
I will be there from the start

Midnight Howls

0
by Jasreen K Toor aged 10

The howls that filled the air, the howls that filled the air
The wolves that were standing there, the wolves that were standing there
A deep dark night filled the day,
The sun went down and disappeared away
Dark trees covered the empty grounds,
As the wolves walked around
Not a movement in sight, not a scurry in the air,
not a sound as a fright, not a deep dark dare
The howls that filled the air, the howls that filled the air
The wolves that were standing there, the wolves that were standing there

Sun Shines Upon Us

0
by Jasreen K Toor aged 10

For a long time the sun will shine upon us
and surround you
It will guide your way on
There will be a pure light within you
always within you, always within you
For a long time the sun will shine upon us
Giving us happiness

Beautiful as a Flower

0
by Jasreen K Toor aged 10

A red tie
As a beautiful crown
Crisp colors fill the air
Scents of flowers, do we care?
Soothing, soft petal leaves rushing the clean frost ground
Of curves and curves
We are going downward,
Down the stem
Rainy droplets seep inside as a morning sun shining in the empty sky
Paper floats, paper floats
As gas in the air of a wind like storm

Making Time

0
by Loren Flynn aged 12

Not so long ago,
a girl was always on the go,
between music and football,
she’d hardly be at home.
She was kind and funny,
young and sweet,
she was always helping others.
She had one loving brother,
who she would make time for.
She was maybe busy,
but she was always there for others.

What I’ll Do This Year?

0
by Harshita Das aged 10

What will I do this year?
I know I’ll work with all my might
I’ll see what I did wrong last year
And make it all right

I’ll do all the things
Which I couldn’t do last year
I will send away
All of my fears

I’ll try and try and try
Until I succeed
And I’ll do
Lots of good deeds

Wait a second
Did I mention what I was working for?
Oh I didn’t?
I want to work to play

The Great New Year

0
by Rhys McCarron aged 9

To you I say the New Year is great
For Hogmanay we blissfully wait
Sometimes on Hogmanay we have a dinner
That truly is a winner
And for the dinner I raise a toast
Though I don’t really want to boast
But we had a great feast in Archerfield
And now feelings of good cheer we wield
