Oh Dear, Oh My!

Oh dear, oh my,
My brother just dropped the pie,
That was for the wedding on the 4th of July,
Oh dear, oh my!

Oh dear, oh my,
How is the water dry?
This is a mess,
Now my brother is in a dress!

Oh dear, oh my,
Now my sister turned into a guy,
Well at least I am fine,
Wait, no I’m not,
oh dear, oh my!

Oh dear, oh my,
My mother doesn’t try
To fix this but she does
Get messed up with mud!

What is happening?
Did you hear that bong!
Everything is going wrong,
Oh dear, oh my!

The Talking Dog

by Mason Jacques aged 10

My friend has a talking dog
That likes to sit on a log.
When he gets a bone that’s new
All he does is chew, chew, chew.

He likes to talk about school,
But then sometimes he says school isn’t cool,
He goes to school everyday,
But not on the 20th of May.

He likes to play Hide and Seek,
But sometimes he thinks we peek.
He really likes to eat apple pie,
But not on the 4th of July

He likes to give donations
But not ones to different nations.
This talking is crazy but he finally stopped.
Wait, never mind now – he just talked and hopped.

Touch

by Ananya Wadhwa aged 14

Moonlit illusions,
I felt the moon beams cascade
And envelope me,
Delicious, creamy, exhilarating
And yet, somehow they devastated me.
I watched the silky clouds
Cover the polished moon,
Like a gentle wedding veil
As you lingered around me.
I pushed,
And fell,
Blood trickled down my lips,
Dangled from my eyelashes,
Yet, you pinned me down,
And, shook me, rasping,
I felt your hot, stinky breath.

And so therefore, I must now I muster up the courage
To ask you,
Why, oh why do you yearn for a goblet of me
On your table
When you have four wives who’ve given you
Flushed, beautiful children?
Why do you yearn for a goblet of me
To froth beside your bread?

Savannah and the Banana

There was a girl named Savannah
She ate a talking banana
When she went for a walk
And her stomach started to talk

Everyone thought this was weird
Even the man with the beard
She climbed a hill and at the top
Her stomach decided to stop

And ever since then
She never ate a banana again!

The Monster

A round ball bounced
a hungry tiger pounced
Everyone was shocked
when the boat rocked

It was scary
and the monster was hairy
but it was friendly.

The sea is beautiful,
It is sparkly,

It will make your dreams come true.

Christmas Eve

It’s just been Christmas!
That was in the past,
My parents said be a good girl
or you won’t get what you asked.

My stocking was hung,
The tree was lit.
Hoping to hear the footsteps of St Nic.

Anxiously I waited all night long,
Until mum came in and sang me a song.

That night I remember as clear as day,
When I looked out the window
and saw Santa on his sleigh.

His nose was like a cherry
and he looked rather merry.
As he gave his reindeers a call, he shouted,
“Merry Christmas and a good night to all!”
