The Book

There is a book
A mysterious book.
Nobody knows what it says.
It is written in an ancient tongue.
Have you discovered it?
I hope not.

Summers

by Harshita Das aged 11

Summers!!!
Summers are here
Feeling nice and warm
Having tons of birds
And a bee swarm

The sun is shining
Onto my burning face
And about the winters
They show no trace

Ice-creams, ice-drinks
All waiting for me
So if you’ll now excuse me
I’ll go drink some iced-tea!!!

Life

2
by Mia Kay Griffiths aged 9

I once was a bump in my mummy’s tummy,
a small tiny creature, a big deal with every single feature.

Loads of amazing things happened after that,
by then I was nearly the size of a cat.

Over the years I entered childhood, I grew as fast as I could.

Very little things changed, when I became 6 years of age.

Everything that’s happened sums up to now,
here at 9, everything seems to be fine.

You might say this is a very short acrostic poem,
but really, honestly, for now it will be all I’ll be knowing.

Overall I think I have a pretty good life,
forgetting all my worries and strife.

Ultimately, from my point of view,
the one and best thing is that I love… YOU x

Spring has sprung
parks are fun
rainbows in the sky
iris flowers shooting up
nights get lighter
green leaves on the trees

What Every Day Should Be!

0
by Sophie- Jaya Boots aged 8

It gotta be fun,
It gotta be cool,
It gotta be like we’re in a pool!

We gotta laugh,
We gotta giggle,
We gotta boogie and gotta wriggle!

You gotta be confident,
You gotta be a lunatic,
You gotta be able not to act like a fanatic

But first of all,
Why is this happening?

It’s all because Mr FLAC!
+
Mrs. CLAF!
+
Miss. CHAPGIRL!

Horses

2
by Kelsey Wellard aged 12

How their coats gleam in the sunlight
Magnificent solid colours they are
The horses with the chestnut coats
Shine as reddy-gold as the sinking horizon
The foals are so cute,
Their long legs are spiders,
Wobbling as they walk
And whilst riding into the sunset,
The wind whistles a fast tune
As the stallion gallops majestically,
Into the evening bloom
Horses love sweet, sensational sugar lumps,
So scrumptious, oh yes
And when they neigh
They just want some hay
To chew while they chill.

Their dark chocolate brown eyes
Resemble kindness and relaxation
They are marvellous, magnificent creatures
When they lope as fast as a bear
When they are stressed
Their mane is a tangled maze of noodles
Almost like blond hair
They are great companions
And make fantastic company
Horses hooves hover for a second as they canter carefully
And the clip-clop of the iron horseshoes,
So comforting it is,
So comforting.

There is a heavy saddle,
And sparkling stirrups
When the saddle is black,
It is as black as night
Sometimes, the reins and stirrups
Are snakes writhing in the air
Sometimes,
My saddle calls my name
To tack up my Welsh Section B horse
There is
Riding, running,
And reins at the ready
No jingly harness at all.

Poetry

Poems can be funny or serious, they’re still good
One of my favourites types are silly ones
Enjoy them – I know I do
Time to time – I read poems but I always like them
Read them when you’re sad or worried
You should try

The Magical Tap Shoes

2
by Amie Preece aged 7

Tapping all night, dancing all day, helps me clear all the cobwebs away.

Under the tunnel, down by the lake, magical tap shoes showed me the way.

Darker and darker the sun fell down, as I wandered through the old little town.

Past the bushes, past the trees, my eyes fell upon the biggest of dreams.

Closer and closer I wandered on, in through the doors the light shone on.

I looked around and blinked my eye and wondered if I was still dreaming in the sky.

The Lost Cat

by Taylor aged 7

This is a lost cat
Oh, hi there. Did you know I’ve lost my cat
I have looked everywhere but have you seen him?
Yes we have. He’s behind you
No he’s not, I looked
Woo, I know – he’s dead
No! I looked in the graveyard
Oh no… I know
He’s on my head
Silly cat!
