God

He created us, from the endless chasm
He made the crops grow, smooth on the ground
He made the clear blue water, on the beach
And the cuckoo, with its beautiful sound

He created endless beauty
From mountain peaks to salty springs
The enchanting and beautiful flowers
And so many more things

He made it so the birds could fly
He gave us the power of speech
He made the crow, cunning and clever
But obvious, from its screech

He made the heat and warmth of the Sun
And made it glow, in the sky
He made a silver, gleaming ball
And he placed them both, ever so high

He made the richness of the air
With purity and dedication
Then he breathed life to us
After he was done

He made us gain our strength
By making us find our water and food
And thereby I present to him
My endless gratitude

The Sunset

0
by Harshita Das aged 11

The Sun shone above the horizon
In a beautiful and gorgeous hue
The sky was a kind of dark orange
Rather than the usual blue

It sank deeper, behind the hills
For it was almost night
Yet even as it bid farewell
It was a prepossessing sight

Its rays shone, above the clouds
Despite it being gone
And then the shine disappeared
And the night had finally come down

Flying Adventure

0
by Louisa Beardwell aged 10

Zooming down the road
Arriving at the airport
With our heavy load

This way and that way
They heave our luggage
Onto the plane
I thought it would take all day

Buckle your seatbelts, we’re on a ride!
Soaring through the air in a plane
like a bird in the sky
We’re flying side by side

The plane has landed, we’re here, hooray!
Jumping off as fast as possible
More adventures are heading our way!

One Winter Morning

by Manuela aged 9

One winter morning
when the sun shone on my face
I Heard my brother shouting Yes
One winter morning
Dad saw a bud
and called him up

Summer

4
by Harshita Das aged 11

The warmth in my skin
The heat on my face
Humidity in the air
The sweat after a race

Longer days with fun and joy
Is what summer brings
The sky in a brilliant shade of blue
And so many more things

The cold, tingling feeling of the pool
As our skin gives a sigh of relief
Our minds thinking of the lazy days
And nobody is feeling grief

The Sun shines merrily above the horizon
Happily sharing its heat and light
A smile on everybody’s face
As our hearts are filled with delight

Important

Lies can sweeten the truth
Creation cannot be without destruction
Love cannot be without jealousy
Death is a stage of life
There can be no light without darkness
Those who haven’t experienced grief, haven’t had a taste of joy
To be angry is simply to be hurt or upset
Strength cannot be without difficulties
But the thing nobody can forgive is spite

Stars

0
by Lottie James aged 6

Starry night
Starry night
Up high
I can see a light.

When it’s morning,
Everyone’s yawning.
It’s too bright
for the stars to shine.

Except one star.
The biggest of all.
Burning, flaming, scorching hot

Sunny day
Starry night
Sunny day
Starry night.

I Wish I Had a Unicorn

3
by Ruby Rose aged 9

I wish I had a unicorn,

A glittery sparkly unicorn

I wish I had a unicorn to play around with

I wish I had a unicorn with white shiny skin

I wish I had a unicorn to snuggle up with

I wish I had a unicorn,

the sort that would tell me anything

A unicorn to muck around with

with its long pointed horn shining!!!

I wish I had a unicorn.

World War One

1
by Eveie aged 11

War for the ages, war for the worlds

Over desperate soldiers the airplanes whirled

Running away from the bullets so sharp

Learning to shoot at the enemy’s heart

Demolishing friendships, demolishing lives

Worrying soldiers of worrying wives

Armies invading, territories lost

Rarely they wonder, what is the cost?

Horses

I wish I had a horse but mom said no
I really, so really wish I had one
I saw Kate and Millie, Hannah and Dylan
All four of my friends had one
But not me
So I laid down crying
