Success

by Harshita Das aged 11

You are so envious when
You see others succeed
And yet you don’t know
How bitter were its seeds

With dedication and failure
They reached so high
You need wings
Before you can fly

For the juicy fruits of success
They never gave up hope
The fires of failure, ready to consume them
In the darkness of education, they groped

Yet they found a way
Making a light, for the dark
And now when you look at them
Just wonder, if the hard journey
For the fruits of success
You will survive

Soldier

0
by Harshita Das aged 11

A handsome young man
With courage untold
Both brave and strong
Fierce and bold

He led armies till no end
To victories, in wars no doubt
With valour, he fought the war
Strong, tall and stout

And then with his sword drawn
For he didn’t fight in vain
A bullet through his heart
And he was never spoken of again

Pride

by Harshita Das aged 11

There she stood, against the wall
Her face regal, proud and tall
Not a mistake she could bear
Being proved wrong was her greatest fear

In the tainted sea of choices
I knew she’d drown
Her bad choices and decisions
I knew they’d take her down

She’d shut down all those close to her
To say that she was always right
And standing low, she was afraid
That she might lose her pride

Leadership

by Harshita Das aged 11

To inspire others to follow your steps
To lead them where they want to be
To give them hope and keep them going
Showing them what they want to see

Hiding your fears, for your companions
A courageous leader never steps back
Leading them of their desire and will
Not out of sheer force

To show them right and what is wrong
To work as a group, not alone
Then subsequently
You’re a leader

Prison

by Harshita Das aged 11

To escape the prison of restriction
And let your imagination flow
Think outside the box
And don’t let your prison grow

Clowns

by Lana Williams aged 8

Hands up
Hands down
Wave them all around
Like you are a clown.
It’s mean to play tricks
but that’s how clowns get their kicks.
Clowns aren’t scary
they are just silly and hairy.

Spooky Fun

by Sofia aged 7

It’s Halloween the day
that ghosts and the ghouls come out to play.
Hmmmm, what trick shell I play?
I know I’ll paint an x on everyone’s doors
Ha ha ha perfect.
Now my costume… I know, a vampire.
Now I need to put my vampire costume on
It’s nearly 12.  Oh no…
I’ve finished. Quick, I’ve got to go.

When I Wake Up

0
by Ellery Anderson aged 8

When I wake up
My brain is full of dreams
When I wake up
I can smell coffee and cream
When I wake up
The sun is rising
When I wake up
Down the stairs I zing
When I wake up
On the table is French toast
When I wake up
I’m off to school
Now I’m at school
with my finished homework

I might not…
I don’t know…
Oh…
No, no, no.
Actually, yeah that’s good…
Yes.
Dot dot dot
No
Maybe
Ah! Forget it!
I’m done!
Mmm, That’s good!

Mum: Okay, so no vegetable pie with chocolate, darling?
