Presents

Mum, when is Christmas?
Why?
Because I want presents
Dad, when is my birthday?
Why?
Because I want presents

Down Memory Lane

0
by Aditi Jain

I knew we were done
Yes we had enough
You were on my path
I was on mine
Waited for the paths to cross
Hoped to meet again
I saw our paths intersecting
But turned I knew
You would blame me
For all of your pain
You wouldn’t look into my eyes
See the fear of making new friends
You had pushed me away
Hoping that I would run after you
I had lost all my senses
And no one was there to pick me up
Forgetting this I ran back to you
Hoping that you would hug me
Talk to me and love me the same way
Unfortunately our friendship had changed
Everything had changed
I saw you laughing with someone else
The same way we used to
Memories trembled down my spine
Tears rolled down my cheeks
I stood there for hours motionless
Taking a journey down memory lane

Unicorns

2
by Shreya Bhardwaj aged 6

Unicorns are beautiful and sweet
and sparkly and pink.
They live in the magic land where the fairies live.
They eat golden magic apples and drink chocolate milk
They run very fast with their unicorn horns on.

Audience

0
by Harshita Das aged 11

Audience
My heart beat fast
Slowly expanding
To break apart my ribcage
Each breath was painful
Like breathing cold air
My wobbling knees
Threatened to give out
My eyesight blurred
With black spots
Somehow
I faced up
And looked at the audience
Expectant looks
Then it went like a dream
I didn’t forget a line
Though distracted
My mouth did a painful twist
As I looked at them again
After I was done
Silence
Something had gone wrong
And then the most beautiful sound
Millions clapped
I hid my face
Blushing
And went back

This Is Fall

4
by Fiona Quigley aged 9

I see leaves falling
I hear birds chirping
I feel the dirt beneath me
I taste the crisp air
I smell the dirt and leaves
This is Fall

As I walk through
The forest leaves are
Falling from trees
Above me

I keep walking and I
Stop to see
A black bunny hop
Across the trail
This Is Fall

You wake up one morning
And look out
The window to see
Tiny white cotton balls falling
From the sky

This is Winter

My Good Friend Max

1
by Isaac aged 9

Max is a great friend if I’d say so
If one of us does something that’s wrong we both say no

If we have problems we’d both talk it out
The most important thing is we do not shout

Me and Max are great friends
Let’s hope our friendship never ends

Books

0
by Jaber aged 8

Books are good for your brain
They help you learn
Books are smart and they don’t give you pain
So you can be smart too

Books are never wrong
Sometimes they have mistakes
Books can be long
But you get information

Books are useful
Don’t throw them away
Books can help you
They are the best

Reindeer

6
by Kiera Garrett aged 10

Reindeer fly through the sky
They fly one by one
Santa with his belly,
with a ho ho ho!
and it’s all jolly good fun

Friend

2
by Harshita Das aged 11

I’m like a shadow
Hiding in corner
Unseen, by everyone around
I prefer to be silent
Like the moon, on a moonless night
Uneasy
When I get attention

She’s like the Sun
Adored by everyone
Everyone’s friend
She’s the centre of crowd
She can speak into the void
Can break an awkward silence
Apple of the teacher’s eye

But I’m not jealous
I admire her
Her leadership
Her way of making people feel free
And her humility

She can talk to me
I do not know how we get along
But we do
I make her laugh
She makes me smile
We are the best of friends
