The Sun and Moon

by Shyam Pavan aged 9

The Sun and Moon,
The wonderful, pure ball of wonder and light,
They are so bright,
Sun is the only light,
For the huge universe.

The whitish moon,
The only visible light,
In the night,
So shiny,
So beautiful.
You twinkle at the night
And are not visible at the day,
You make the sea glimmering blue.

We all are so thankful to you,
You both give us light,
All the time

The Surprise

by Ella aged 8

I got a surprise
On Sunday
I was surprised with a fun day
My mum bought cupcakes and cream
Thay are as good as they seem.
Burgers and chips
Ohhh I got a pain in my hip
Cake is in the oven baking

Rain

1
by Anika Fisher aged 9

Rain rushes through my veins
Rain is glass that shatters
When it falls on to the ground
Cold crystallises the rain
The roaring sound of thunder
Treats the rain like slaves
Whipping them to go faster
Tears run to their mother
Creating a puddle
Feel the drops of tears
Run down my cheeks
I rush into the river
Going under water.
What’s happening to me?

Tests

2
by Tazkia aged 9

Test day,
When the classroom
Always cheerful
Becomes duller.
A corn maze of tables
Students at every end
The clatter of pencils
The tapping of shoes
The flicking of papers
As the test commences
3…2…1 GO!!!
The words on the pages
Bold and clear
Yet my vision
Becomes blurred
As the words on the page
Merge into one
My brain becomes twisted
As I ponder into space
My memory lost
Then suddenly I remember
The whole point of tests
So teachers can teach
And gain some cash.
Soon the tests over
All can relax
Not worry, not care
Because the whole point
Of tests of course
Is to help us learn
And learn some more.

Clouds

by Will Bates aged 10

It’s a pterodactyl flying.
It’s a hungry shark chasing a penguin.
It’s a Star Destroyer catching the Rebel Fleet.
It’s an angler fish drifting along.
It’s a sleepy curled up dog.

By the Sea

by Ella aged 8

I am at the sea
There is not a single bee
I can see the sea
Very clearly
On a beautiful day
Being by the bay
As I lay in the sun
It is such fun

Life of an Eight

4
by Ella aged 8

When I think about eight
I normally think it’s great
When my mum starts to rule
Now I don’t think it’s very cool
When I stand on a stool
I look like a fool
And I fall in a pool!

Banana Bay

by Ella aged 8

Banana Bay
Is where I stay
On holiday
On Saturday
I have a lay
On my couch
All day
Where I
Still live
By the bay
What a lovely day!
