The Serpent of Blackness

1
by Evie Harris aged 7

Oh baby, oh baby do fear,
the serpent of blackness is near
And as long as he may reign,
he’ll do it in power and vain.

But baby, but baby don’t cry,
don’t shed tears in front of my eye.
For the curse that holds him back,
is even more powerful and black,
and wicked and scary and tall,
than him, the greatest serpent of all!!

Summer Light

by Elsie aged 12

The sun shines on me in the summer light,
The warmth of his light calms me,
I see the bees buzzing about,
Collecting pollen as they go,
I see my sisters playing
As they run by,
I see a butterfly dancing,
So graceful as she flies,
The sun shines on me in the summer light.

Words

Words are like a sword
A tool in our hand
They can be used as a sharp dagger
To hurt anyone
And cause pain and harm or drama
Or like a healing medicine
To soothe anyone
To make them happy again
Words aren’t evil or good
That depends on the wielder

Spring has Sprung

by Elsie aged 12

The sun is shining down on me,
See the chicks hatch,
Hear the bleating of the lambs,
Flowers growing up,
Easter is coming,
Easter egg hunts,
Chocolate eggs are being made
For us to eat up!
Excitement is bubbling up inside,
Of each child,
Oh wait I forgot,
The bunnies are hopping a lot,
Spring!

Destiny

by Harshita Das aged 11

Some say destiny is a string
A straight path
That you have to blindly follow
That you have to trust

But I feel
Destiny is a crossroad
Filled with choices
Filled with twists and turns
It is a maze
In which we blindly grope around
Trusting God to guide us
But I feel
That we have to guide ourselves
That God wants us to be
Independent
He wants us to
Choose our own destiny

Aurora Borealis

Poetry to Music Project Performed to Aurora Borealis by Brandon Fletcher

Will she come
Will she appear
Aurora
Are you here?

Here she comes
Bringing her sapphires, diamonds
And gold
Such jewelled gifts you bring to us
Such beauty to behold

Your waterfall of colour
Burnished robes of emerald green
Aurora, you are the most graceful ballerina
The world has ever seen

Your crystals, jade and emeralds
Light up Venus and Mars
Watch as she tip toes across the sky
Our Queen of the Ink and Stars

Aurora
Your kaleidoscope of colour
Waves as you turn and twist
Dusting the sky with your paintbrush
Our artist of magical mist

Aurora
Are you tiring now
Is it time for your sleep?
Please stay a little while more
Shall we play hide and seek?

See her emerald lose its colour
See her jade fade from glow
Oh, Aurora
Do you have to leave us
Do you have to go?

There she goes
Fading back into the ebony sky –
Until tomorrow, Aurora
Goodnight, Aurora
Goodbye.

The Wind

by Elsie aged 12

The wind scrapes my face as I walk through the park,
The whistling sound makes my ears pop,
I watch the trees dance in time,
Listen to the moan of the wind,
The wind lashes the rain to soak my hair,
Hear his voice as loud as any,
The wind wants you to know he’s there,
He pulls my hair as he passes by,
The wind is rather sly,
Whenever I look he isn’t there,
But when I listen I can hear him,
The wind.

In the Dry Desert

0
by Pragun aged 12

In this dry desert I live.
There is a house made
Of brick. It is painted
Red and white.
It’s where I live.
It is my beautiful house.
Every day I wake up in
A pool of sweat.
I am bathed in sweat
Every single moment.
There’s no electricity.
There’s no way to beat the
Heat and evaporate sweat.
Sweat trickles down the body
Every single moment.
It makes you itch
Every single inch
of your body.
But at the end of the day,
It’s life for me.
In this dry desert I live.

Magic

0
by Charlotte Fennell aged 9

I touch soft, warm, crumbling sand
Like the feel of rosy red candy floss
A soft breeze spins by
Dancing subtle pirouettes

I see a golden fairy
Waving her yellow wand
Sitting on a rainbow
Looking down at an enchanted forest

The scent of apple blossom
Floats on the breeze
It is like
Hope, trust and forgiveness
Everywhere
Like the perfume of a
Perfect purple butterfly

I see a robin with a glowing red breast
Tweeting songs of comfort
Like the sound of glistening turquoise waves…

It could just be magic.
