Transparent

by Harshita Das aged 12

When I was five
I was transparent
I wore my heart on my sleeve
I told everyone what I thought
To have them guffaw
And roar in laughter

When I was twelve
I was translucent
They could see bits of me
They would try to decipher me
But they would never see the full picture
The clear image
Of who I was

Now I am sixteen
I am opaque
Nobody knows who I am
I can hide my emotions
Behind an icy cold mask
I have pulled the shutters
To the windows
That were transparent for so long

NIgeria’s Leap to Freedom

If I had the might,
I would bring Nigeria back into the light.

I will do my best,
And never ever rest.

I will end the fighting
And give everyone back their rights.

I will make Nigeria a better place,
And that mission I must ace!

I will change generations,
And life shall be a celebration.

I will drive poverty away,
O what a happy day.

I will stop drug abuse by the youths.
And give them better pursuits.

I have a world in sight,
Where everyone shines bright.

Even though the darkness is giving us a fright,
Look inside your heart and you will discover you’re a bright light.

Over the mystical sandy floor
Colours fill the sea,
Ending never.
Algae covers the place,
New creatures always.

The beasts are crawling
they are everywhere you go
Oh no, Black Widow!

Slimy slugs and snails
Molluscs, Insects, Arachnids
Get out of my house!

Even in the waves
Freshwater Sponge and Sea Slugs
Tons of them int’ sea

The Melody

by Elsie aged 12

I hear this song sung today,
It sounds not too far away,
I follow the song sung gracefully,
I follow the song sung flowingly,
I follow the song sung harmonised,
I follow the song sung today.

The Bumble Bear

Once there was a bear called Norman
who loved honey.
He really, really, really loved it
and he was always sad when
it ran out.
But getting hold of more honey was a bit… tricky.
