by John and his Mom aged 10 and 36

We all have a family
It is not a house but it has many people
They all help each other
We love our family
We all have done the funniest things
They are my wonderful family

He went tootaty tootaty toot.
The waves went SPLASH!
They made a CRASH!
Then he hid inside a boot.

Colours in Life

by Aditi Vishwanath

That petty fight with my friend,
and the bickering with my family,
that annoyance which lasts for a while,
when recalled in isolation,
gives birth to my lost smile.

On the arrival of festivities,
the exuberance to celebrate,
the high festive spirit of parties,
when recalled in isolation,
gives birth to my vanished liveliness.

A thumping heart and a mike in one hand,
a sweaty hand and the audience,
the confidence in the delivered speech,
when recalled in isolation,
gives birth to my lost confidence.

A week or so free from all stress,
by a holiday at the beach, hilltop or desert,
with a soothing environment,
relieves all my pains and worries,
and I discover the bliss of life.

Recalling all the colours,
from my beginning to the present,
what I realize is that life’s colourful,
it doesn’t matter if the existing colour
is light, or dark.

Hot Chocolate

by Harshita Das aged 12

Hot chocolate
Forgive my manners, but that name starts to get me drooling
In a cup, spread on brownie
Looking like a chocolate river
Flowing steadily in a cup
Warmth surges through me as I take a bite
And I feel that
This is the closest to God’s heaven I will get
Without dying

Stopwatch

I hate deadlines
I hate timers
I hate things that restrict my time
That make it so I have to make haste
But when I stop to think about it
I realize
My life is running on a stopwatch

Poison

by Harshita Das aged 12

Bad influences are like poison
They spread in your veins
And slowly kill you
Good influences are like antidotes
But they’re slower
And can only do fix if you are haven’t got too much poison
So, stay away from the poison

Gold

by Harshita Das aged 12

Sometimes, gold isn’t everything
Midas could tell you that
For there once was a king filled with grasping greed
And a favor from the gods he received
And from that day forth
Everything he touched turned to gold
His palace was a dazzling yellow
Encrusted with jewels to represent his wealth
Corridors blinding and reflecting infinite riches
Yet little did this do to satisfy the king
For those with greed cannot be satisfied
And then he had a daughter to fulfill his joys
But when he hugged the girl, as a father would to his daughter
She froze and became heavy metal
Only then did he realize
That his powers were more a curse than a blessing
And so he begged for his daughter to return
And she did, for the price of his curse
And he hugged his daughter once again
Knowing, that she was worth more than all the gold in the world

Once

by Ziming aged 10

Once I was 1,
my family gave me a ton
of love
Once I was 2,
They told me
what to do
Once I was 3,
I loved to kick the tree.
Once I was 4,
I saw many poor
people
Once I was 5,
I loved to play high five.
Once I was 6,
Listening to mix.
Once I was 7,
I love the name Kevin.
Once I was 8,
I start to remember the date.
Once I was 9,
I am very fine.
Now I am 10,
The best age never again
