Never Mind

3
by Ethan Farmer aged 8

though your heart may ache a while,
never mind,
though your face may lose its smile,
never mind,
for there is sunshine after rain,
and gladness follows pain,
so never mind.

I Will Wish Upon a Star

1
by Saniyah Ahmed aged 7

I will wish upon a star for…
The glow of a stingray’s navy delicate body
The first spark ever made in history
Lava as hot as the boiling sun

I will wish upon a star for…
The first slight blink from my baby brother
A clock with a friendly face
The first appetising food ever made

I will wish upon a star for…
A golden lamp which will take me around the world
Albert Einsteins’s last inventions
The first sip of the Red Sea

My star is fashioned from
Pluto’s iced tears
Fresh cherry blossom
Light blue fabric from a vintage frock.

Another Dimension

There is something magical about libraries
With the scent of beautiful, clean pages
And the swift silence that always seems to accompany it
And the line of books arranged on the shelves
Making you dizzy just looking at them

But that’s not why they are other-worldly
For in just a large room
There are as many dimensions as the books
The silence allows me to visit them peacefully
To merge with them
For each book has a history
Has a beautiful story
Each with its own beloved and hated characters
Each with a promise of something new
Which allow us to go to the moon
Or to another planet, far, far away
Or to a damsel in distress being saved by her prince
Endless possibilities
Endless dimensions
And they all have endless imaginations

River Rafting

0
by Harshita Das aged 12

The river was still
It silently, slowly and steadily
Flowed along the river banks
Our rafts, made of rubber
Rocked dangerously on the surface
As we rowed to sterner waters
Tides came and went
We squealed with glee
When the raft was on the verge of collapsing
We ducked and rowed
And when we got off
I felt giddy with happiness
Rather like the river
When it had playfully wrestled with the sand

Levi Discovers if Time Travel is a Thing

by Levi aged 8

I’ve invented something great.
A time machine.
I’ll turn it on and…
OH MY, IT WORKED
I’M IN THE FUTURE!!!!!
Oh, hi, future me!!!!!
Pff! YOU’RE NOT GONNA LISTEN?!
WELL I’M GOING TO THE STONE AGE!
WHOP! BANG! WIZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
I’m now in the stone age.
I will play with my tablet while I’m here…

…WHAT? NO SIGNAL?! UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH!
Now I shall travel back to the future.
WHOP BANG WIZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!
The end!

The future has an END…?
Now I’ll go to BEFORE ANYTHING WAS MADE!
Uhh, bad idea!
Back home?
Yeah!

The end (and I actually mean it this “TIME”)

Every night
I think of them
Every night
I love them
Every night
I wonder
If every night
They love me

A Dark Glare

1
by Ilhan Rahman

Silence!
A black view,
everything new.
A shooting star,
across our car.
Four eyes;
Wandering the skies.
Two heads,
out of beds.
Waiting to receive,
something massive.
Suddenly!
A scatterring glare,
of a known hair.
Blocking the way,
of the moon’s ray
Scattering the sky,
in my eye.
A silky feeling,
around my face.
Moving my,
body’s haze.
A sudden,
breeze moved her hair.
Letting the moon again glare.
Suddenly,
two shots.
Across our hearts,
flooding the road of our bloods.
We fell over our ends,
in the same trend.
That’s how our lives end.

The Game of Fate

0
by Aditi Vishwanath

Blaming yourself, for the mishap occurred,
convicting yourself, for ruining the peace.
Most of us do the same, to blame ourselves or others,
and just thinking the impact, of the befallen mishap.

Appreciating yourself, for the fortuity arisen,
complimenting yourself, for bringing the change.
The majority do the same, praising yourself or others,
joyously celebrating, the arrival of fortuity.

But, few and far between this world,
realize that it’s the game of fate,
and an incident had befallen,
because it had to befall.
