Sanctuaries

We all have a place we call home
Some places are temporary
Others are permanent

We all have a place to sleep
Whether it be a cold metal bench
Or a warm cushion bed

But do we have a place
In which to rest our mind?

The Bridge

The water below us glittered venomously
The wooden steps crackled and creaked
The end seemed further and further away
With betrayal, the railings reeked

We both tried to rebuild and recreate
But distance decomposed, time left us tattered
And slowly, sea threatened to engulf us
As the fragile bond beneath us shattered

Now the bridge lies dead in dust
Both too prideful to build it again
The reminiscent were engulfed by the sea
Leaving only memories of pain

Circumstance

We are all slaves to circumstance
It twists and bends us to its will
It changes, catching us off guard
It can never, ever stay still

Some of us depend upon it to give us gold
While others would like to punch it in the face
Some of us choose to reject it
But we can agree, circumstances control us

Sausages

Sizzling in the pan,
Mmmmmm…
Pass the ketchup,
they’re nearly ready!
I’ve got the mustard!
Throw in some onions before it’s too late!
GET READY FOR THE YUMMMMM!!

Roblox and Minecraft

My favourite games are Minecraft and Roblox,
But Roblox is the game I play the most
MeepCity, Destruction Simulator, what to choose?
I know, I’ll just play some Minecraft… ON ROBLOX!
Two of the best games mashed together,
I might play that game forever!

If I Could Go Back in Time

If I could go back in time I would…
Oh, what would I do?
I know
I’d ride on a dinosaur’s back
Have a feast with the Vikings
Help the Romans clean
Oh, there’s so much I would do
If I could go back in time.

Glass

Glass is fragile, it breaks easily
Yet, it causes red stains
It’s sharper than normal
It cuts sharply
But it is beautiful too
The reflections reflect us humans
We are all fragile
And we protect ourselves by being sharp
But I wonder,
When is it that we accidently fall
And break?

Fireplace

The flames dance on the fireplace
Fire is a beautiful thing
The blaze motivates you
The sizzling comforts
The dance cheers you up
It is just like a person
A kind, gentle, caring person

Towering over
Rising high
Every tree
Ends in the sky

Poetry

When I tell people I write poetry,
they laugh and say it is silly,
they think it is all writing about ‘love’,
when it is about rhyming, rhythm, metaphors and stuff,
Haikus are short and simple with a rhythm to them,
metaphors describe objects that do what they can’t,
rhymes are words that are chime with sound,
poems with a rhythm have a beat,
acrostic poems describe a word running through,
shape poems are fun and shaped like what you describe,
poems aren’t silly,
even though some are about ‘love’,
I love writing poetry,
I don’t care if you think it’s silly,
I write poetry.
