The Eye of Hurricane Michael

by Pragun Pudukoli

When hurricane Michael reached our town,
it decided to make my neighborhood
its center. It became the location of its
eye. In the middle of the eye was I.

The eye was as long and wide as the length
of the football field. I was not tossed
around by it like a tornado would be.

This sight I knew would not last long
because soon, it would leave me
Like one has to leave this world someday.

Decisions and Choices

by Aditi Vishwanath

On one side of the world,
lives a generous man,
with wisdom and intellect,
affable and austere.

But, on another side of world
lives an egoist, aloof in his own,
being, a disciple of disharmony,
with a disdainful disgust within.

Yet, both born with same traits,
same thoughts and same character,
but one magical moment
drastically changed their life.

That magical moment when
they had to make decisions for
their upcoming future,
made them quite different.

The decisions and choices taken,
at one moment in life,
with a plentiful of pondering,
will mold your life.

Okay?

It’s not easy to smile
When you know that
Everything’s not okay

But you smile anyway
So other’s think you’re okay

But if someone asks if you’re okay
And you say everything’s okay
In the end,
Who is suppose to be okay?
You, the someone, or everything?

World War 2

by Wezana aged 10

As soon as Hitler declared
that the war should start again
all children felt upset
that this was towards the end
Tearful children crying
because they didn’t want to leave
as the train arrived in front of them
they got on board
and the train started to leave.

My dad is funny
He makes my day sunny
He plays games with me
And takes me swimming in the sea
I love my daddy more than he knows
And I really hope that it shows

The Amazing Winged Dragon

0
by Sofia Rose Chapman aged 8

Look up in the sky
There’s a colourful dragon ruling the sky
She’s as strong as a wagon
She has piercing blue eyes
My dragon is pretty and very long
And her favorite thing is to do is play ping pong
She lives in a cave that she built in the sky
She loves to fly over the cloud
that is shaped like a devil’s eye
She loves to play over the waves
She looks after the sky
And if you saw her you would be amazed
By her size

Imperfect – a Sudden Urge

by Gaurika Mehrotra aged 13

I’m imperfect alright
Many a time a sin I commit
A blunder befalls me
But I love me to the bottom of my heart
In my depths I know I’m a gem
A right gal doin’ the wrong thing
Let’s change that
