Hard To Be You

1
by Charlie aged 10

When I walk into the room you all look down,
all the teacher does is look, and frown.
I didn’t mean to make you stare,
all I did was jog over there.
The reason for all of this mess,
could be that you’re all in distress,
I understand the change of something new,
I realise that it’s hard to be you.

A Lost Winter

0
by Akifah Abdin aged 10

Winter’s snowflakes bustle around,
they are God’s frozen tears showering
to the ground
Warm blankets, dancing fires
hot stew
Something that upgrades the twinkling star
in your parents’ eyes
Even homework,
it sort of makes it good too
you know when Jack Frost pays a visit
and writes the answers on the window too?
Anyway winter always will and always is a standing
enjoyment
What’s more
there is an improvement every year.
“That is why you must simply cherish it, dear,”
says my grandmother, wiping a tear.

Unhappiness

When your eyes are bleary,
the tears start to rise,
the waves of salt soon start to cry,
the only thing you feel inside,
is your happiness start to die

I’ll Never Be the Same

7
by Kerry-Lee Huskisson aged 12

I used to be a city,
But now I’m just a town.
I used to be a cheesy smile,
But now I’m just a frown.
I used to be a blooming flower,
But now I’m just a weed.
I used to be a family pet,
But now I have no lead.
I wonder what the world would think when all I do change,
Each and everyday I feel as though I’m not the same.

I used to be a superhero,
But now I’m just a wimp.
I used to be a sporty lad,
But now I have a limp.
I used to be a lion,
But now I’m just a fly.
I used to be the whole wide world,
But now I’m just the sky.
I WONDERED what the world would think, when all I do is change,
But NOW I feel both proud and free, that I’ll never be the same.

Boats

by Ryan aged 6

Boats sail on the river,
Boats sail on the canal.
There are big boats and small boats.
Some boats have sails, engines, oars.
Canal boats are long,
Canoes are short.
Some boats are made of wood,
Most boats are made of metal.
All boats have a destination.

I Hope

I hope:
For decorations
on a tree;
For presents under
needles (some
for me!);
Christmas will be magical.

Academic Tests

by Sahaj Sabharwal

Oh these tests,
Superfluous academic tests.
No time to prepare
For entrance tests.

Difficult to store
Vast concepts in mind,
Oh how to retain so much
Till marks given and paper signed.

Bewaring that,
The examiner is not blind,
And not our by-dweller
That gives marks so kind.

All worried,
Smile crease no face.
Will we get through,
Or falter in this pace.

Parents worried about our careers
They believe books are nifty,
Smartphones are carrier’s barrier
With no sympathy.

Parents and teachers
Support and hope is essential,
In order to raise our potential.

The Black Cat!

by Elvia aged 11

Hi,
I am the black cat
The one that always eats the rat
Don’t be afraid
because I’m on emergency aid
and don’t be scared
because I only look scary!
