What Am I?

1
by Timi Hughes aged 10

I hop like a pretty ballerina on the grass,
I’m as quiet as a test being done by a class.

My stomach is as red as Father Christmas’s hat,
And I always hope I don’t get eaten by a cat.

I fly down from trees, way down low,
Then I land nearly upon the snow.

I symbolise Christmas, joy and cheer,
As well as marking the beginning of New Year.

A Robin.

Come, come, come baby.
Come, come, come.
Your father is coming home .
Your mother is coming to home.
Why are you going baby?

Come, come, come baby.
Come,come,come.
You are a clever baby.
Why are you sulking?

Come ,come, ome.

Christmas is coming
it’s time to bake
an I love Lucy Christmas Cake
White currents and raisins
and sugar and spice
will make it ever so nice
and everyone in the family
must stir it once
stir it twice

The Two Knights

0
by Amy aged 10

All was quiet

In a grassland

Footsteps slowly approaching

Two knights fought

Over a princesses hand in marriage

The knights went CLASH

BANG

WHALLOP

As tragedy struck

In the land of magic

A slish and a slash

As day transforms to night

As the disaster carries on night turns to sunrise

The sunrise is as colourful as a rainbow

As the clashing dies

Snoring gets louder and louder

Awake he lies in bed

Was it all a dream

It’s Our World

WINNER

Ostrich feathers on her hat
A coat from leopard skin
Collar and sleeves from real bear fur
On her waist a belt of snakeskin.

Ivory rings dangle from her ears
Real corals around her neck
She clutches her crocodile purse
Sheep fur boots on her legs

Carrying the world and its continents
Tropics, poles and seas
Mrs. Posh Ruthless kills to dress
And happily dresses to kill.

Her ignorance and vanity
Makes poachers greedy and cruel
In rain forests, highlands, rivers and reefs
Threatening species to death.

Every living creature belongs to this world
For the present and the next
So learn to value, Mrs. Posh
Or it will be too late.

Will you stand up for our only planet
Will you, will you?
When no one else but us can save it
Will you?
Submerged in plastic, heating up
Extinction threatening, animals done
Will you be the change and stand up for our planet
Will you?

Could you buy a reusable bottle
Could you, could you?
Reduce plastic, in ways so subtle
Could you?
Bottle in the ocean, washed up on shore
Nanoplastics that could that harm us all
Could you be the change, buy a reasuble bottle
Could you?

Would you learn to be energy aware
Would you, would you?
Educate yourself, be wise and fair
Would you?
Learn about fuels, waste and emission
Change for the better, improve your way of living
Would you be the change, being energy aware
Would you?

Can you take action, save the wild wonders
Can you, can you?
To see the magnitude of the threat they’re under
Can you?
The climate is changing their way of living
Slowly depleting them almost to nothing
Can you be the change, caring for our creatures
Can you?

You will rise up for our only planet,
Won’t you, won’t you?
Save your home and the creatures on it
Won’t you?
These issues affect you, if you like it or not
Its time to act now, save the planet we’ve got
Won’t you be the change that saves our planet
Won’t you?

The Struggle of Earth

Pollution is one of the many things,
That lets us know climate change is coming,
It’s not something to joke about,
It’s not something to laugh about,
It’s coming.

The sea is rising,
The temperature is growing,
It’s not something to joke about,
It’s not something to laugh about,
It’s coming.

Let’s do something about it,
Don’t just sit there,
Because it’s not something to joke about,
It’s not something to laugh about,
It’s coming.

Plant a tree or recycle,
Walk somewhere or take a bus,
Because it’s not something to joke about,
It’s not something to laugh about,
It’s coming.

This is for everyone,
To one and all,
Be the change,
Because it’s not something to joke about,
It’s not something to laugh about,
It’s coming.
