New School

As I walked though the door
there was students galore,
I was amazed and in awe,
my lessons were not a bore,
there was a lot to explore,
though each door.

Listener Of The Sea

0
by Mina Simmons aged 11

I am a listener of the waves,
I hear every fish which swims in the current.
I think I am invisible.
Nobody sees me.
Not really.
The waters flow through and then go on,
But I’m still listening.
I am the ear of the predator,
Stalking its prey silently,
Conscious of every noise.
I imagine life in the hustle and bustle of the city.
It’s so quiet here.
I am the first to hear the flick of a shark’s tail,
Before it traps its victim.
The first to hear the horn of the ships from the outside world.
I look up at the ocean liner.
So big.
So loud.
Maybe I do belong here.

In The Night

0
by Jack Withers aged 6

In the night, the moon shines bright,
Lighting up the midnight sky.
It shines through my window all night long,
And goes to bed with my morning song.

Al’s Crazy Hairdo!!!

1
by Ella Broomhead aged 11

I’m Albert Einstein don’t you know;
I was born 140 years ago.
I had a theory that was called relativity;
But don’t forget my friend Isaac, who got hit under an apple tree.
I got a Nobel prize at the age of 42;
All thanks to my amazing 160 IQ.
I was born in Ulm, that’s in Germany;
But I went to study at Zurich University.
I’m also famous for my wild and crazy hairdo;
And I was a vegetarian, so I didn’t eat beef stew!
I’m Albert Einstein don’t you know;
And I was born 140 years ago.

The Meaning of Blue

0
by Leo aged 10

What is blue? A perfect blue sky
Cradling the Earth with it’s warm hands.
The vastness of the ocean creeping into the land,
Gently moving to the heavens – gently.
The calming sense of soft snow falling into water,
The majestic glaciers melting and disappearing before our eyes.
As the bluebells bloom in the twilight,
Lighting up the night sky, reaching for a place,
A place in heaven and a place in life.

School

I speed to school,
‘Cos it really cool.
Some don’t think the same,
‘Cos they think it’s lame!

R.E is easier than some,
Others just think it’s dumb.
English, I’d say is fine,
It always needs a line.

Formtime is fun,
Others just feel they are done.
Computer science is best,
Even better than a simple test.

Under the Surface

1
by Spring aged 9 1/2

I’m not like her you see…
I keep my boundaries
because I’m fine in my jeans and this old T
facing reality when I’m with you three.
You like her and not me…
but it’s hard to keep my mouth shut
when I know too much about you.
It’s hard to say I don’t care
when all I do is stare around you.
But I know when we go together
much better than you two…
’cause she doesn’t know your middle name
or how you tie your shoes,
the face you make behind your mates,
when their mad at you.
She doesn’t know you flip your hair
when you’re nervous…
or how you really are…
under he surface.
I’m not like her you see…
She found love at fifteen
I keep my boundaries
because I’m fine in my jeans and this old T
facing reality when I’m with you three.
You like her and not me…
but it’s hard to keep my mouth shut
when I know too much about you.
It’s hard to say I don’t care
when all I do is stare around you.
But I know when we go together
much better than you two…
’cause she doesn’t know your middle name
or how you tie your shoes,
the face you make behind your mates,
when their mad at you.
She doesn’t know you flip your hair
when you’re nervous…
or how you really are…
under the surface.
Under the surface
I know we go together
so much better then you two.
She doesn’t know your middle name
Or how you tie your shoes…
the face you make behind your mates..
when they’re mad at you…
she doesn’t know you flip your hair when you’re nervous..
or how you really are under the surface…
Under the ssurface…

The Cold Walk Home

0
by Nat aged 11

The cold wind, the frostbite, the soaking wet feet
how I wish I was curled up in bed
wrapped up in my quilt
soft pillow squashed under my head

Ten minutes to go, I’m sure I can make it
my home is almost in sight
I walk a bit faster, cold wind in my face
I pull my coat around me so tight

At last I can see it my house is right there
I rush through the door with a crash
and rip off my coat and take of my shoes
That journey passed in a flash

Apple

by Riley aged 11

Apple grows on a tree
apples get eaten
apples are everywhere
you just never see.
There’s green apples, red apples.
Maybe blue apple,s you never know.
Apples are very nice
also one of your five a day.
Apples grow on a tree
apples are everywhere

Judgement

0
by H Firth aged 12

Don’t judge a book by its cover
Read the blurb first; discover
Don’t judge a person from the outside
Get to know the contents of which they provide
Don’t dismiss a present because of its size
Because inside could be a wonderful surprise
In literacy lessons we annotate and unpick
We don’t just understand the test as fast as a click
We read, learn and understand
It’s the same with new people, so give them a helping hand

Carry your past with you
Talk about it too
But don’t let it consume
Every small thing you do
Look to the future; be strong
Of course, you’ll make mistakes; get things wrong
Believe you can, have some vision
Let’s stand together and stop social division
