I am going back through the past,
Witnessing my old life.
Seeing my children,
Never forget my wife.
Before the Nazis existed,
The wonderful times we shared,
Having freedom walks,
As though we never cared.
But when the Nazis came into power,
We went Into hiding. We
Were terrified and scared,
Hoping that the Nazis we would never have to see.
Then one day someone betrayed us
Who? We don’t know,
So the soldiers came
And we were forced to go.
We were sent to a concentration camp,
Arrived on a train.
The conditions were poor.
I wish we never came.
Looking back I realize
That I was very lucky,
To be the only one left.
But was I lucky?
When the soldiers came to free us
I still had hope,
But when I was told they had gone
My heart shattered like glass.
And to this very day
I can still remember
the events of the past.
