Onomatopoeia

by laila Humphreys aged 10

Onomatopoeia is a very long word,
it describes a sound you’ve heard.
The bird goes squark and the chicken goes cluck,
bumpity bumpity bump go the wheels on the truck

The cow goes moo and the sheep go baaaa
You can use onomatopoeia wherever you are.

If there is no sound, you can make one up
like paddely waddely woddle goes the waddling duck
or squigglesqelsh goes the pig in the muck.

Roar goes the monster in the story
Hmmmmmm I forgot said a fish named Dory

Onomatopoeia is quite cool
I think we should use it more in school.
