October the unforgettable month

by Cassie Kaiser aged 15

Times flying by
I can’t believe its been a year already
October here we go again
My brother’s birthday
Then my dad’s
Then comes Halloween
but last October I broke my knee
the day before my brother’s celebrations
My knee will never be fully healed
I guess my expectations are too high
Continuous issues
they crumble in the cold
This October
same thing as last
going to the orthopaedics
to make sure my knees healing
Last October changed my life
Which is still affecting me
This October
October will always be in my head
the month of what I broke my knee
It doesn’t feel like it’s been a year
The memory lingers as if it
We’re yesterdays grace.
Last Halloween I was in crutches
at-least I can go pumpkin picking
without a wheel chair this year
even though I hurt my knee
I still made the most of the month
October the unforgettable month
ill always have that memory
stuck Inside my head
crawling back to remind me every time
About an injury that changed my life
my knee will never be normal again
and my gymnastics skills
Will never be the same
