My Family Members Are Who I Really Miss

by Elsie aged 14

To think what it was like before this all happened,
To think that now it’s come to a temporary end,
Every Friday Nana and Gramps would come round to our house,
We’d talk, chat and enjoy ourselves,
Gramps would tell stories and make us laugh,
Nana would help paint and do art and craft,
We’d see our Nanny and Papa each week,
We’d go there every few weekends for the day and to sleep,
Nanny’d always make a delicious chicken soup,
Papa would play guitar and teach us to play too,
Our Uncle and Auntie we saw quite often,
Along with our little toddler cousin,
We’d watch her crawl around and try to teach her to talk,
We’d laugh and giggle as she tried to walk,
Our Granny and Grandad live next door,
So we can see them most of the time – for sure,
I love it when Granny and Grandad give us treats,
Something Granny’s baked or chocolate to eat,
I love to draw pictures for them to stick on their fridge,
My family members are who I really miss,
I wish for everything to go back to the way it was,
But will it ever be back to normal?
Back to the normal as we knew it before?
