Mum, My Inspiration

by Leanna Miller aged 11

This poem was a Runner Up. No prize… but well done!

How do I describe this inspiration,
The mum with a heart as warm as freshly baked cupcakes and toasty hot chocolate,
The mother who helps everyone no matter when or where or who,
I know readers, you already have a question whirling through your mind, is this really true?

Believe it, or not, there’s more,
About the incredible mum I adore,
Day in and day out, without fail,
This glowing star is up and about constantly helping out.

Driving grandma to and from bridge,
Placing tasty treats in the packed fridge,
Doing too much for dad if you ask me,
Cooking royal feasts fit for a wedding, cleaning the house squeaky clean and ironing a shirt of his or even three!.

Showing me truly magical places,
Making each day one to remember,
So once in a while I want to say thank you in every single way,
Tell mum how much I love her more than the worlds words could explain.

This is the end,
Don’t pretend,
You wish you had a mum like this one.
