My Mother

by Yousra Elmachta aged 8

This poem was a Runner Up. No prize… but well done!

If my mum was something I could put on, everyday
she would be a woolly jumper,
soft and snug.

If my mum was a sound,
she would be a cat’s gentle purr
as I stroke its soft furry head.

If my mum was something I could eat
she would be a strawberry, mmmmmm…
my favourite treat.

If my mum was a feather
she could fly like a hot-air balloon
floating in the sky
like a butterfly in my heart.
