This morning I saw the theatre awaken
Velvet-red curtains yawned
Plush pillows snored
And the columns stretched on the carpeted floor
This morning I saw the theatre eating
Exit doors noisily crunched
Unfastened handbags noisily munched
The theatre was so stuffed it wouldn’t eat ’til lunch
This afternoon I saw the theatre partying
Jewellery jingled
Objects mingled
Excited sandbags tingled
This evening I saw the theatre go to bed
Mirrors washed their faces
Slippers left no traces
Spectacles entered their cases
And they all went to bed
I love the rhymes in this one.
I love the use of the adverb in the second stanza
Wonderful personification of the theatre
I love the tingling sandbags
