This Morning I Saw My Bedroom

by Harrison Cornish and Lilac Jarvis aged 10 and 11

This morning I saw my bedroom waking up
Teddy bears screaming of the alarm of dawn
Blinds stretching to the beat of the birds’ caws

This morning I saw my bedroom dancing
Toothbrushes doing the tango with tubes of toothpaste
Whilst mirrors pardoned the ballet to reflections

This morning I saw my bedroom angry
Clothes smoothed the bare floorboards
As T-shirts boasted to denim jeans
That they would be worn first
Whilst coat hangers listened worriedly

This morning I saw my bedroom partying
Gummy bears dancing with dolly mixture
Photos eating up memories for midnight snacks
As the stars shimmered in the moon light

This morning I saw my bedroom sleeping
Red velvet curtains shut their eyes
White shoes tucked under the sleepy bed
And lamps quietly boasted how bright they are

Well done what an excellent poem. I wonder if my toothbrush does the tango when I’m not looking?
