Measly Medals

by Lauren Midgley aged 12

My little sister gets a lot of medals.
I am very happy for her but the thing is,
because I am the older girl,
getting a medal for anything is really hard.
I try my best but everyone is always better than me.
Now my little sister has 3 medals hanging up
proud and high on our wall and I don’t even own a medal.
Those primary school sport day medals don’t count either!
Well I don’t need a medal anyway!
My pure genius lies beneath my evil.
I don’t care if only the hero gets the rewards.
The villain gets its reward by not going to jail,
just knowing you were too powerful
for the hero to put you in jail was good enough.
That is a true reward.
