The Magic Box

by Rubie Florey aged 10

I will put in the box
My dog’s protection
Happiness from my birthday
My saddest moment when I watched Dolphin Tale

I will put in the box
The snowman’s bright orange nose
The frozen sea of the beach
And the snow falling on my nose

I will put in the box
My Nan’s sweet voice
My grandad’s loud laughter
My teacher’s guiding tone

My box is fashioned from chocolate cake
With buttercream and sprinkles
Its hinges are slithers of chocolate

I shall time travel in my box
Dreaming in Hollywood as people begin to act
Whilst I settle down for the performance.
