London, Lanka, Lautoka

by Charlottei aged 10

I made this poem for my grandparents as it was their 50th (gold) wedding anniversary 3 days ago- these are the main places they have lived:

Tall, monstrous buildings
Street fights
Wailing sirens
Cold nights

Hard work
Freezing air
Ilford lights
The blinding glare

Moved to Sri Lanka
Warm is the ground
Hot like summer
All year round

Cliffs and temples
Sand and sea
Run and climb
A mango tree

We’re now in Lautoka
A city in Fiji
Calm and happy
A place to run freely

Tropical waters
Tranquil and peace
Warm and wonderful
Humidity increase

Married in 1970
3 children in the nursery
The colour: gold
The 50th anniversary
