Little Things

by Charlottei aged 12

Little things I enjoy the most,
the things that make my day
they make me a better person,
and happier in every way

Sunsets, hugs, smiles, Tic Tacs,
good books, soft blankets, food,
plants, flowers, the smell after rain,
teriyaki chicken – barbecued.

The people I love and floral perfume,
going to London at night
sentimental photos, matcha green tea
going on a summer holiday flight.

Hot showers and cloud-gazing on soft grass,
Ikea, gum and a good nap,
belting out songs in a car full of friends
Monopoly, Uno and snap.

Bubbles and childhood innocence,
laughing until I get a cramp,
sweeties with cousins at midnight,
climbing trees that are a little bit damp.

Doughnuts and soft plushies,
a full piggy bank, notes in your hand
the birthday feeling and when you know that your healing,
and wriggling your toes between sand.

School (sometimes), it really depends,
my brownies with strawberries and cream,
all these things have so much meaning,
I have them, it feels like a dream.
