Lies

by Harshita Das aged 10

I once rode a lion
In the marsh, all on my own
I once ran a circus
All alone
I once went to space
And saw the Sun
I once made a
Very, very huge bun
I once slapped a lion
I once climbed a tree
I’m of course telling the truth
As you can see
I once was a prime minister
And ruled this land
My mom is the president
So everything is in her hand
My father is a police officer
And the head of them all
He always walks straight
Looking smart and tall
I once had a talking doll
Who used to walk and talk
I once met Santa
Putting presents in my sock
I once had a marvelous dog
Who was better than any other pet
He shook his hands
With anyone he first met
I used to have a cat
Who caught over a billion rats a night
I was paid really well
It was so, so right
I once had a shock gun
And it certainly gave a shock
To anyone who bullied me
Or even used to mock
Oh, this is all the truth
No Lie
Oh I once did these things
Oh my, Oh my
I once had a bunch of mice
Who could lift 1000 pounds of weight
Ah those were the times
I used to feel great
Oh you know??
I jumped off the roof one day
If I told that to my mom
What would she possibly say??
Oh I once had a fox for a pet
And it was as tame as a dog
He did a lot of work for me
Like bring a piece of log
I once saw an elf
Walking here and there
I once saw a talking rabbit
Or maybe it was a hare
I once walked to US
With my bare feet
I didn’t rest or sit
I didn’t have a seat
Once I made a game
Which was really, really nice
It had to do with a lot of cats
And a few mice
I once jumped over the moon
I once had a talking cow
Umm… but I couldn’t possibly
Do that all now…..
