Last Night I Saw the Classroom Breathing

by Roen Chittock aged 10

Last night I saw the classroom breathing
Great guests of tables shouting
Rushing in and pushing out
The doors singing mouths.

Last night I saw the classroom laughing
Chairs got their legs shaking and spreading their arms
Tables split their sides
And the book corner completely creased themselves.

Last night I saw the classroom dancing
Cabinets shaking their bottom drawers out
Bins hopping over aching tables
Christmas trees wiggling in the breeze
Putting on a show for the radiators!

Last night I saw the classroom crying
White boards cracking their legs
Celanese falling to the ground
Chairs stomping over to the legs of the white board

Last night I saw the class starving
Flowers chomping crumbs
Books eating their pages
Shavers grazing pencil lids

Last night I saw the classroom sleeping
Bins closing their mouths
Windows slamming shut
Computers shutting down
When I grow up I’m going to be a door
Like a log
Snoozing in the book corner

I think this idea came originally from Brian Moses. He will be pleased I’m sure. Check out his blog for lots more ideas.
