Jaguar Began

by Micah Becker-Goodman aged 10

Jaguar began
He took the yellow light of the sun
He took the shining glow of a lantern
And made his eyes

From a gloomy castle
He took a witch’s prickly needle
He took a vicious bat’s snowy white fang
And made his claws

For his fur
He took a soft and silky Prince’s cape
He took the velvety stroke of a rabbit’s hide

Then in the beautiful glowing night
He took the black of the midnight sky
He took the round of the shiny moon
To make his spots

For his voice
He took a boom from a spooky cave
He took the growl from a distance thunder bolt

For his teeth
He took the prickly spike of a shiny dagger
He took a jagged thorn from a vast cactus
To devour his prey

And Jaguar was made.
