It’s a shame,
That our daughters will have to grow up being afraid.

It’s a shame,
That we blame women for what they were doing or wearing,
Instead of teaching our sons about how they should act.

It’s a shame,
That people say ‘It’s not all men’ ,
But it’s enough men for women to be afraid.

It’s a shame,
That women aren’t getting the justice they deserve,
But still get told that it was their fault.

It’s a shame,
That women can’t go out for a drink with friends,
Because they are terrified that their drink is spiked
or someone might take advantage of them when they are vulnerable.

It’s a shame,
That children have to go through this as well,
Nobody can blame a child for what happened to them
as they aren’t even at age to understand what happened to them.

It’s a shame,
That people still go through things like this on a daily basis,
Being ‘cat-called’ and taken advantage of.

It isn’t right that people have to go through this,
It isn’t right that anyone of any gender has to go through this,
But it still happens regardless.
