Ichthyologists

Marine People –
Sometimes they fish,
They sell,
And they eat,
Why do they do this?
To feed and be the breadwinner.

Sometimes they ride the waves,
They dive and go underwater,
They ride speed boats,
They traverse,
Why do they do this?
For glee and satisfaction.

Sometimes they take care of water animals,
They treat them like a newborn child,
They see if they are apt to go back,
They stay on the waters to check if any animal gets wounded,
Who are these people?
They are ichthyologists,
Why do they do this job?
For their compassion towards the animals.

Ichthyologists are people who
Don’t traverse as normal people do,
Don’t fish as normal people do,
Don’t run for green banknotes as normal people do,
They ride speed boats to save animals, unlike what normal people do,
They dive and go underwater, unlike what normal people do.

These are eco-centric people who leave their egos behind
and care for things that we don’t usually care about.
They are the ones who care for beings whom we don’t even notice.
We think that they waste their time, but instead,
they spend it on what isn’t cared for.
