I Will Burn

by Mehvish Mehboob aged 14

You jeer and jest at me, savouring my anguish
Do you think I do not know?
How you feed your insatiable desires by gorging upon my grief
How your body and mind are alike
in the sense that both are starved of sustenance and sagacity

Oh, I understand the satisfaction. the satisfaction in watching you drain of life
as every last drop of your pitiful being spills
My creatures of night devouring every trickle
Oh yes, I understand the blood-lust and vengeance you feel

But what you did to my sisters
my saccharine, naïve sisters
whose only crime was to help you and your
puny, mortal kind
Oh, how you shall pay

You thought you could destroy me
but you forget
fire, my servant, bows down to me
I am fire
my flesh, my blood, my soul
a mere extension of the hellish depths below

Take me to the stake
and the carnage I will leave behind,
the darkness and ruination like Lucifer,
you will silently scream
and I will feast on your sweet sorrow like you do on mine

All witches burn you say
O yes
I will burn
