We Are Going on Summer Holiday

by Olivia Dinwoodie aged 10

Time to put the inky pens away,
mum doesn’t shout at me this way,

Time to lock up the deadly sums,
now I can stop stressing about equations.

We are going on summer holiday!

Jump in the pool where it’s cool,
feel the breeze on your knees

We are going on summer holiday!

Fish and chips here I come,
I just wish no seagulls would come.

We are going on summer holiday!

but now I’m everyone’s gone and I’m alone
I feel quite glum so I’m going home
