The Gladiator Versus The Lion

by Isabelle Thornton aged 11

Winning Poem

There stood he, in the Colosseum
Awaiting his dreadful fate,
A sword in his hand a helmet on his head,
Ready for the fight to begin.

The gate was opened, the crowd went quiet,
A ferocious beast entered the Colosseum,
It had blood on its mouth and blood in its mane,
And a roar that made the whole ground shake.

It bounded up towards the man,
With it’s huge teeth hanging out of its mouth,
But the man didn’t move, not one inch,
And with one swing of the sword killed the beast.
