The Friend I Know

by Doris aged 10

How your gaze stares into my heart
You are the friend I need
You are as sweet as a jam tart
Your caring heart is sweet indeed

How your silky hands fit in mine
When we play games together
When the sun shines in your eyes
My feelings say nothing better

Your hair gleams in the shining sun
Better than anyone else
Your niceness teaches everyone
Be yourself not someone else

Where your little legs carry you
You can’t stop them there
Anything you want to do
Comes from everywhere

My dear friend you have been
The future of my whole life
Your loving soul has been
With me my whole life

Now Lillia you go
without a goodbye
Who am I without you?

I changed “weed” because generally weeds are thought of as bad things. Lovely poem.
