Empathy for my Mum

by Eva aged 10

The thing that I’ve always wondered is
what it’s like to be my mum
Is it like chilling under the sun?
I don’t think that it is.
You always hear mums complain
that their chores are such a pain
and to make things worse they often have
little worms (you) running about nice and free
and then suddenly you shout “EEEEEEEEEE”
squealing and squealing whilst they are peeling
the carrots for the salad.
So next time you ask your mum,
“Hey mum what is it like to be you?”
And then they start to reply
and you run to the loo.
Your mum shakes her head,
“Tut tut,” she replies with a strut in her tone.
