My Delivery

by Harshita Das aged 12

I waited and sweated
I cried and howled
Each second felt like an eternity
My heartbeat could be heard from the soul

I jump at every sound
My hopes flutter and then sink
Everything feels disappointing
Every choice like just another pick

And then the angelic sound of the doorbell
An invitation rings in my ears
In a flash I am at the door
To take my pizza
