Cuddles in the Chill

by Chloe Smith aged 14

Winning Poem

Slip in tidy as the warmth of your chest swallows my cold
We watch the white fall to the moor
Can I tell this might be Christmas spent well?

Hot cocoa breeze swirls around the room
with the warmth of the crackling flames on the stone beside us

Music of chiming and jolliness surround
the moment I’m spending with you

We snuggle closer as the white wind shakes the roof
Let’s stay here
Let’s spend this time together

We watch the snow storm pass by
We see the glitter gold and the silver lining of the wrapped presents
underneath the glow of a tree holding many balls of green and red

I know I’m happy at this time of year
when we are cuddling in the chill
