Christmas, Santa and Me

by Shrihan Basu aged 7

My favorite days are near.
I will wake up early, full of cheer.
Will hang my stocking near the tree,
Mom will bake cookies—one, two or three!
Last night, I saw a reindeer in my dream,
Sparkling stars made him gleam.

He said, “Wake up boy, Santa is here!
Get ready and make your room clear.”
I just hope Santa finds my home,
While flying through the snow and foam.

Let me write a list with bright crayons,
And wish for toys, candies, hugs and so on.

I’ll share my cookies, with my besties,
And maybe some sweet for tasty treats!
The tree will glow, red and green,
It’s the prettiest one has ever seen!

We’ll sing some songs and laugh and play,
Because it’s Merry Christmas Day!
