‘Twas the night before Christmas…
Not a noise to be heard, not even the sound of singing birds.
The trees were waving their arms in the air and everyone asleep
gleaming with care and excitement like shaking hands with the mayor.
But then a noise came from the roof
BANG!
It could be burglars trying to take my things
and then fly off with a pair of old wings.
So I went up to my window, not daring to look
as if there would be a cute little duck.
I opened my window, my hands were shaking,
my head was sweating and my ears ringing.
As I look to see what was there
it was Santa Claus with his white gleaming hair
but then he was gone.
I ran down stairs to see if he was there
I saw a glimpse of red with spots of black from the suit and ash.
It was Santa Claus what an amazing sight
with his red coat and trousers that looked just a little bit tight.
He dropped his sack and, oh yes, it’s a kite
just what I wanted for that Christmas.
As Santa went off he sang happy Christmas to all
and to all a good night
and hopefully he’ll come next year I don’t know…
He just might.
