A Child’s Toy

by Harshita Das aged 12

Children fight over petty things
Squabbles and arguments over plastic junk
But, in a way, they are exactly like adults
For we fight over things too
Things that some would consider petty
Like money
And religion

Their arguments are our thefts
Their harmless fights are our murders
Their bullying is our massacres
And their street fights are our wars
All of them done for petty things
And the child’s toy is always
Money, religion and pride
