This is a poem composed by pupils of 4 Avon for our class topic.
The Boy King
Three thousand years ago
Slaves were building pyramids
In the hot and dusty desert.
A young King named Tutankhamun
Taken to the Valley of the Kings
Lay in a gold sarcophagus
Mummified… immovable… silent.
Years later, an archaeologist named
Howard Carter was tirelessly searching
For the Boy King
Paid by Lord Carnarvon
To unlock secrets below the sand.
Bats screeched as hope began to fail
Suddenly, steps, a wall, a name
Revealing the tomb
The tomb of King Tutankhamun
A dog howled at the moon
As the lights of Cairo went out.
