Angel Girl

by Emory Reed Brinson aged 14

The epoch after the storm
Was kind to me.
It blessed me with an angel
And that alone was enough
To have me struggling
To dig myself out of that dark place.
My angel had wings
Woven of gold and silver
Sometimes she shined so bright
I had to close my eyes
Or else tears would fall down my cheeks
From the sheer beauty of her.
The storm left me
Beaten and broken
On a well-trampled path.
But then she came to me
In a halo of golden light
And I was saved.
The storm brought only pain and suffering.
She filled my mind with images of hope and beauty.
The Epoch after the storm
Was kind to me.
It blessed me with an angel of a girl.
