Anchor

by Rachael Kurowski aged 15

I never realized how much she pulled me down.
I was drowning
she was an anchor trying to get to the lowest point in the sea
I was trying to stay at the top to breathe
no matter what I did I was always struggling.
sometimes I thought it was over
but she just got deeper.
one day I couldn’t handle it
I cut the rope
I was free
I could breathe

Rachael, I sense a very brave young lady here. If you are the ‘voice’ of the poem, then you are incredibly strong. Great poem, inspirational, well done!
