A Sonnet, Springtime in the UK

by Darcey Holloway aged 12

In spring time, the air blows peacefully
In spring time, the birds chirp elegantly
In spring time, the sun glows gracefully
In spring time, the trees gloom with appealing latticework
The weather is warm and the bunnies hop around
Spring time is the best
I get to be myself!

Nice poem Darcy. But check out what a sonnet actually is. 14 lines. Each line has 5 pairs of syllables, the second of which is stressed. (Think di DAH di DAH di DAH di DAH di DAH) And they have a rhyme scheme. The most popular being ABABCDCDEFEFGG. Now there’s a challenge for you.

Thank you for the feedback I kinda do know what a sonnet is but I didn’t know that it had to be 14 lines but thank you and I will remember that for next time.
