A Rat Poem

by Cody C aged 10

Rats are bad,
They can carry fleas,
That can give you a disease.
They chew your hats,
They bite your mats,
They run around in the dead of night,
With them no house is rat-tight.
When you see them you scream
When you see them you squeal
They squeak as much as the floorboards creak.
You shout SHOO!
You try and hit them with a baseball bat.
The harder you hit, the more that you miss.
You get ‘em out of the house,
But they always will come back on your home run!
They eat your sweets,
They chew the tops of your beets!
Your traps don’t work,
You go berserk!
You want to strangle them
You want them to be mangled by boa constrictor!
Their scaly tails,
Their pointy nails…
YOU HATE EM!
The troublesome things that they are!
