A Poem About Winter

by Caleb aged 10

The ice covers the frozen ground
The grass has turned into a pure white
An icicle in the corner, slowly melting
Drip, drip

Snowflakes flurrying all around
People milling around busily; huddled against winter’s frosty bite
The rain, angrily spitting and sputtering against the roof
Pitter, patter

The snow descends without a sound
We sit idly, sheltered from nature’s spite
Silhouetted against the fire in the grate
Flicker, flicker

The animals hibernate under the ground
The robin sings of their frozen plight
The lonely owl hoots into the moon
Twit, twoo…
